Introducing Roof Take-Off Reports in ARIS Detect
Accurate measurements. Faster quotes. Smarter inspections: In the insurance and roofing industry, accuracy and turnaround time can make or break a job. Whether it is assessing storm damage, preparing a quote, or ordering materials, even small measurement errors cost time and money. That is why we have launched the new Roof Take-Off Report inside ARIS Detect: It is a semi-automated measurement that turns your drone or satellite images into accurate, ready-to-quote reports within minutes, not hours.

What It Does

The Take-Off Report gives you precise roof measurements without the manual workload. It helps you:

  • Calibrate scale accurately on complex roofs
  • Draw and label every ridge, valley, gutter, and flashing
  • Apply pitch for true roof surface calculations

Once complete, the data is compiled into a professional, branded PDF ready for quoting, insurance submission, or material ordering.

How It Works

Our new screen capture tutorial videos walk users through the full process, from calibration to completion.

Step 1: Setting Scale

When starting a take-off, you will use two scale tools on the right side of your screen: Ridge Scale and Gutter Scale. Because these parts of the roof sit at different heights, ARIS Detect uses a dual-scale system to achieve superior accuracy.

Adjust the scale using three intuitive controls: Blue Dot moves the scale Green Dot rotates it to match the sheet angle Red Dot adjusts rib spacing:

You can extend the scale for higher precision or enter a custom scale if you know an exact real-world measurement.

Once both scales are set, your take-off is perfectly calibrated for measurement.

Step 2: Drawing Linework

Select Draw from the toolbar and trace the roof perimeter. Then draw gutters, ridges, valleys, and flashings.

You can easily adjust lines with the Drag Tool or remove them entirely using Delete All. The interface is designed to keep your tracing clean and accurate.

Step 3: Labelling Lines

Next, open the Edges Tab and use the Auto Line Labeler. It automatically identifies and labels most lines for you. If anything needs adjusting, simply select the correct label and click on the line to apply it manually.

Step 4: Applying Roof Pitch

Upload an image of the hip in the Faces Tab and use the Pitch Finder to draw a short line across it. The pitch is calculated automatically and can be applied to all faces or entered manually if preferred.

Built for the Real World

The Take-Off Report was designed for how professionals actually work.

  • Insurance builders can generate accurate, compliant reports faster
  • Roof inspection companies can produce data-backed take-offs from drone captures
  • High-volume insurance claim roof specialists can deliver ready-to-quote documentation minutes after landing

It saves hours of manual tracing and removes uncertainty from quoting and estimation.
